Day - 1 Cochin (Kochi)

On arrival at Cochin, you are greeted & assisted at the airport by our representative and transferred to hotel. An obscure fishing village that became the first European township in India, Cochin was shaped by the Portuguese, Dutch and later British. The result of these cultural influences is seen in the many examples of India-European architectures that still exist here. A city of peninsulas and islands, today it is Kerala’s commercial hub.


Check in at Casino Hotel for 02 nights. Afternoon, you are whisked away to historic Fort Cochin for a sightseeing tour covering the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church & Chinese fishing nets. Evening, watch spectacular ‘Kathakali Dance’ in a local theater.

Day - 2 Cochin

After breakfast, you are transferred to Mrs. Nimmy Paul’s residence for a cookery demonstration. She is a professional cookery instructor and also a food consultant to writers, chefs and magazines. Nimmy and Paul belongs to traditional Syrian Christian community in Kerala. In keeping with the tradition of their families they enjoy having guests and serving food. She teaches guest the nuances of traditional Kerala recipes. Today you can watch and learn traditional Kerala Syrian Christian cooking here. 2 or 3 traditional recipes are demonstrated – Rice dishes with fish and meat. After lunch you are transferred back to hotel.

Day - 3 Cochin – Alleppey (65 kms / 2 hrs)

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Alleppey. On arrival, embark on a Houseboat for an overnight cruise through the palm-fringed canals of Alleppey. Enter the enchanting waters of the Vembanad Lake; enjoy the panoramic views and the glimpses of the life along the banks. You can watch the paddy fields, village folk, old churches and the snake boats while cruise at a leisurely and relaxing pace.


The houseboats have an in-house kitchen where the cook prepares cuisine of traditional Kerala flavour, which taste truly great and make dining an enjoyable experience. The delicacies include Pealspot / Seer fish and Prawns, prepared in local flavour and you will get all meals onboard. If interested, you can taste the local fresh toddy from a local pub.

Day - 4 Alleppey – Kumarakom

After breakfast, disembark at Kottayam and check in at Philipkutty’s Farm House for 01 night. Staying at Philipkutty’s Farm is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the real Keralian experience in a fascinating location, with a caring family to look after you. It is a special place, as it provides something different, especially for those who prefer small and friendly places, and, could just be, the perfect hideaway for the bespoke traveler.


Ask for a cooking class from mum and lean the nuances of the local cuisine. The type of cooking you will be exposed to be predominantly with a Christian and backwater influence, i.e., meat and fish preparations as well as other vegetarian dishes and also the little family touches passes down over the generations. Afternoon, do a farm walk and lean about farming below lake level as well as the different crops cultivated.

Day - 5 Kumarakom – Pala (45 kms / 01 hr)

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Pala. On arrival, check in at Nazarani Tharavad, the ancestral home of the Kottukapally family. It has been built, expanded and restored in Kerala, Dutch and Spanish architectural styles over a period of 250 years.


The Kottukapallys are principally Rubber Planters and acquired the first commercial Rubber Plantation in India - Periyar Syndicate. Today you will be taught the Syrian Christian cooking of 4 or 5 dishes. Class starts with a presentation of the ingredients and utensils used for cooking. Traditional Nazarani lunch on banana leaf with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes follows the demonstration. Experience millennium-old style of living; observe the collection of cooking and other utensils.

Day - 6 Palai

Breakfast with the family. Today we will take you for a soft trek through the rubber plantations, watch the tapping of rubber and processing of latex. Later we will go for a village walk where you can visit local artisans, see ancient churches, and get to lean more about the Kerala village life. You can continue cooking classes in the evening and learn more Syrian Christian recipes. A 7course sit down dinner reminiscent of colonial era follows.

Day - 7 Palai – Thekkady (85 kms / 3 hrs)

After breakfast, check out and drive to Periyar (Thekkady), South India's most popular wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is an established tourist spot and it's home to elephants, tiger, bison, sambar, wild boar, langur etc. The artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. On arrival check in at Pepper County a unique home stay located in Kumily with a quite, serene ambience.


It is covered in a 7 – acre plot full of spice, fruit trees and plants, gently sloping down to the green paddy fields. For those who want more than just an accommodation, the family serves the taste of delicious Kerala cuisine. The Kerala fish curry, appam, avail etc. have a very exotic flavour. The method of preparation is so different that it makes Kerala cuisine very distinct and liked by all.

Day - 8 Thekkady – Munnar (110 kms / 04 hrs)

Morning boat safari at Periyar Lake. After breakfast, check out and drive to Munnar. Munnar is a beautiful, peaceful hill station covered with unending expanse of tea plantations, at an altitude ranging from 1600 to 1800m above the sea level. This hill station was the favourite summer resort of European settlers for centuries.


Sprawling tea plantations, picturesque towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Check in at Tea Meadows for 01 night. Afternoon, visit Eravikulam National Park - the natural habitat of the Ibex called Nilgiri Tahar and the spice plantations. Walk through the Hills kissing the clouds, breathing the sweet smell of Tea.

Day - 9 Munnar – Calicut (300 kms / 6 hrs)

After breakfast check out and drive to Calicut. On arrival, check in at Harivihar for 02 nights. Embodying the best in traditional Kerala architecture, this ancestral home of the Kadathanadu Royal family presents an ambience different from other places.

Day - 10 Calicut

After breakfast, visit the spice market. The Spice markets at Calicut is the oldest in Kerala . Harivihar is committed to ayurveda wellness and hence the cuisine is in tune with the ayurveda philosophy. The emphasis is on vegetarian food and they do not serve eggs, fish or meat. Likewise alcoholic beverages are avoided.


Harivihar offers a well crafted menu which borrows heavily from the local cuisine. The cuisine is delicately spiced and flavoured and at the same time nourishing and light. Today you have the opportunity to interact with the cook and learn from her the secret of her cooking. Afternoon you will visit a Kalari school.

Day - 11 Calicut – Thalassery (60 kms / 02 hrs)

After breakfast, checkout and proceed to Thalassery. Thalassery, an old city in Kannur district of Kerala is one of the attractive places for history loving people. The place is decked with four rivers, hills, cliffs and long coastline. A 17th century Fort built by British East India Company to established its settlement on the Malabar Coast, stands as a testimonial to their colonial imperialism.


On arrival, check in at Ayesha Manzil for 02 nights. Malabar region has always been rich in Spice and fresh Seafood and no other community makes better use of this natural bounty than the Muslims of the North Kerala. Afternoon, visit the weaving centers, beedi rolling centers watch Theyyam performances in the local temple etc (depends on the season).

Day - 12 Thalassery

After breakfast visit to local market to purchase items for cooking demonstration. Have your lunch with the family. Afternoon, you will watch the presentation of ingredients and utensils used for cooking.


You will have the demonstration of preparation of Malabary dishes, different from what you have tasted so far. Cookery session lasts about 2 to 2.5 hrs. it consists of one meat, 1 seafood, 1 veg, 1 bread/rice and one dessert. The demonstration is followed by dinner.

Day - 13 Thalassery – Cochin

Early morning transfer to railway station to board train to Cochin. Parasuram Exp. (0714/1325 hrs). The train journey will take through the beautiful country - side of Kerala. On arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Check in at Bolgatty Island Resort for 01 night.

Day - 14 Cochin

On time transfer to Cochin airport to connect flight to onward destination.
